Finally saw it! The most talked about movie right now in Indo.. If u live in Indo, I’m sure u know what I’m talking about…. Yup! That’s it, LASKAR PELANGI!!
I’ll be brief.. You can find the review in many other blogs..
It’s a great movie, inspiring, touchingĀ and very beautiful.. But it’s not that spectacular (in my opinion). Without looking down at the movie itself, I think the great PR factor (media partner, publicity, etc) was one of the things that contribute to the success of this long awaited movie. Personally I think Ayat Ayat Cinta is still the best Indo movie..
Still, congratulations to the crew and cast for producing an astonishing work of art..

What makes the movie (and the novel) is better (in many people’s opinion) than Ayat-ayat Cinta is because the MESSAGES in Laskar Pelangi are so universal, applicable to many of us. These are the messages I got from the story:
1. Reach up your highest dream, make it come true, never give up no matter how big the obstacle is.
2. To reach our dreams, we can not just stand still or asking for luck from some shaman, we must work hard.
3. Be grateful for what we have now, because there are people who are less fortunate than us, yet they’re still grateful for their life.
4. Pak Harfan’s most memorable lines : The most important in life is “to give” to others (community) as much as you can, not “to receive” as much as you can.

True, the message in this movie is very applicable, not only to Indonesian children, but people in general. It somehow reminded me of Pursuit of happiness. It is, though, the first Indonesian movie (at least a commercial one) that dared to bring up such a topic..
For my very subjective self, Ayat-ayat cinta is better because it taught me something new, a different point of view to polygamy. I think it was also a fabulous achievement for a rather religious movie to get that much attention from Indonesians (and the Dutch soon).

Sil, just wanna share, i saw this movie together with Nita, Lili, and Lele. And I was surprised when the lights on, they were crying hehe.. I know it was touchfull although not good as its novel. They whose had read the novel said so but i haven’t read it yet. I’ll read it just want to know more.
One thing that I learn, sometimes we can’t do anything with our way of life. There is always ‘X factor’ which is the mystery of life. And mystery is always a part of life isn’t it? All that we can do just take the chance and pass it responsibly. Because chance don’t come twice, more of it the same chance don’t come to everyone..
But overall, I say that Laskar Pelangi is one of Indonesia’s best movie!! Reasonable to be watched! ^^
